Our Story

Dr. Lynn Barton grew up in Riverdale where he was first introduced to animal care in Junior HIgh. He moved to San Antonio,Texas in High School and was an active member of FFA showing pigs and other animals.

Dr. Barton’s first career was owning L& F Construction. Lynn was elected and served for 2 terms on the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District in South Weber Utah.

He returned to school at Utah State University, as a non-traditional student in 2008, to pursue a degree in Pre-Veterinary Sciences. Lynn graduated with honors from Utah State in 2011.

Lynn and Becky moved the family to Fulton, Missouri so Lynn could attend school at Mizzou aka The University of Missouri at Columbia. Lynn graduated with honors in Veterinary Medicine from Mizzou in 2015. He began working at Mexico Animal Hospital in Mexico, Missouri.

Lynn was recruited by Dr. Dent, of Sanpete Veterinary Clinic to come live in Sanpete County in 2018. Dr. Dent held the position for 1 year so the Barton twins could graduate from high school.Lynn worked at Sanpete Veterinary Clinic when it changed hands to Mt. Pleasant Animal Hospital.

Lynn left MPAH in the spring of 2025. Lynn and his wife Becky began Horseshoe Veterinary Services in April of 2025 as a mobile service.

Lynn has served as the president of the Central Utah Back Country Horsemen Association for 6 years and finally stepped down in January of 2026 to devote more time to HMVS. Under his tenure the Association did extensive service in the White Hills to put in horse trails and parking lots in cooperation with the Division of Wildlife.

Lynn spends one week a month in Ohio working with Down Home Doodles and a weekend a month in St. George at the Emergency Animal Hospital as part of Horseshoe Mountain Veterinary Services.

Becky and Lynn have 3 horses, 3 barn cats, and a Frenchie named Schnitzel who thinks he is the boss of their home. He loves everyone and loves to go on 10 mile horse rides. He has been known to be found “surfing” on Dr. Barton’s horse Walter’s back.

Lynn and Becky have 3 children who all have Master’s degrees in engineering from Utah State University. Their son Brayden is a rocket scientist who is currently being his dad’s vet tech, while considering his life’s choices. The twins Abby and Elise are recent graduates.

Becky runs the web page, teaches school in Moroni, and keeps Lynn grounded.
